Scalea

A coastal holiday town with clear blue sea and rugged mountains along the Tyrrhenian coastline. This region boasts long hot summers and mild winters. The dive centre is on the beach at Praia a mare (2 miles from Scalea) open during the summer season.

Horse Riding centre is located 2 miles south of Scalea on the road between Verbicaro and Marcellina. La Bruca Riding Centre. Information is available at the Hotel Talao, (main coastal road, Scalea).

Nearest large city is Cosenza, 1hr 25min drive

Sicily is a 3 hour drive south with a short 25min ferry crossing.

Skiing  - (January and February) approx. 1 and a half hours drive from Scalea are Calabria's main Ski resorts. These are in the Sila Grande which is near Cosenza (travel south on the SS18 from Scalea and follow signs for Cosenza. Then take the road into the mountains. The 3 resorts are: Camigliatello Silano 1400m , Lorica 1350-1920m , Ciricilla 1400-1500m.
